RI calls for more robust efforts to tackle settlement problems

Indonesia has urged least-developed countries to make more robust efforts to tackle problems of settlement through the composing of a national report on the progress of the development of suitable places for habitation in their respective countries.
The Public Works and People’s Housing Ministry’s director general for Cipta Karya, Imam S.Ernawi, said Indonesia provided support by, among other things, hosting the Asia Pacific Regional Expert Group Meeting for Habitat III, which was scheduled to take place from Nov.25 to Nov.26.
“Among countries we have invited are Cambodia, Fiji, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal and Timor Leste because they have not prepared national reports,” he said Tuesday.
The Asia Pacific Regional Expert Group Meeting is a meeting of settlement experts from Asia Pacific countries. The meeting aims to discuss how to compose a national report on good settlements, which will be used in handling settlement problems in the future.
