Cisco Systems, Meeting of the Minds, and the Wilson Center’s Urban Sustainability Laboratory invite you to a round table discussion, Habitat III: What Role for Innovation? The exchange will be conducted via video-teleconference from several locations in North America and South America on January 15, 2015, 10:00 am -12:00 noon EST.

Please RSVP for the webcast here:

The two-hour session will focus on the role that advanced technology is now playing, or could be playing, in achieving Habitat III’s core objectives. The invited participants for the January 15 roundtable exchange include:

  • city leaders
  • original thinkers/researchers, including from academia, grant-making institutions, and NGOs
  • technology innovators and implementers

Latin America will be the focal point for the discussion. As you know, programs and initiatives are underway around the world in preparation for Habitat III. When it convenes in 2016, the UN will be actively encouraging collaboration between and among city governments, national governments, multilateral agencies, the private sector and NGOs. Our discussion will identify priorities and opportunities that must be addressed by the New Urban Agenda. Here is a link where you can find additional details about the UN’s plans for Habitat III:

We hope you can join us for what promises to be an important contribution to the Habitat III process.
